The Sims 4 Summer Roadmap: What to expect and when it’s coming out

A group of Sims on an island beach in The Sims 4 all wearing brightly coloured clothes and pride items. A Sim stands in the front wearing yellow and purple, with long blond hair and blue-teal eyeshadow.

It looks like we have a lot of new content in store for The Sims-iverse over the coming months, including a bunch of updates for The Sims FreePlay and an event series where you can unlock a load of free content. Best hope you weren’t planning on spending much time outdoors this summer.

If you’re into The Sims 4 specifically, then the Sim Your Summer season announcement is probably especially exciting for you. This is because it shared a roadmap within a roadmap, meaning it tells us pretty much exactly when to expect new DLC. It means that if we’re lucky, we’ll have a new expansion pack coming sometime in the coming months, along with some other new additions. I’ve barely just wrapped my head around Businesses & Hobbies!

When will The Sims 4 June to August roadmap drop?

According to the official announcement, we’ll learn more about The Sims’ summer plans on June 5th. Importantly, this doesn’t mean that any new DLC is coming then (unfortunately), but at least by then we’ll have some of our suspicions fuelled or flattened about what’s coming next to The Sims 4.

The last couple of times that EA has shared roadmaps, there’s been a gap between the actual announcement and the releases. For example, they shared the roadmap that led up to Businesses & Hobbies around a month before they released the pack. The gap can be slightly bigger than this, though. The roadmap shared for Life & Death was shared on September 5th, but the pack itself didn’t launch until Halloween.

So, we don’t know exactly when any new packs are arriving. But, we’ll have some answers very soon. Plus, we know from the name of the roadmap alone that it’ll be sometime between June and August, which isn’t a particularly big window.

Leaks mean we have a few good ideas about the upcoming packs

A couple of different leaks give us some key clues about what The Sims 4’s roadmap might have to offer. We know from Anadius that the next pack released is set to be an Expansion Pack, with another couple of unlabelled bits of DLC to follow after it. Unless anything’s changed since the leak, it’s safe to say that an Expansion Pack will probably arrive quickly.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Anadius said that two DLC are coming after the next Expansion Pack, followed by another Expansion Pack. There isn’t any mention of what those DLC will be, though.

It’s not super likely that two Expansion Packs would come out in a three-month period. So, it seems to me like the roadmap will have an Expansion Pack, the event series, and the two other mysterious content drops. There seems to be a lot of kits coming out, and most roadmaps tend to include them. That means there’s a decent chance that the unlabeled DLC will also be kits. Anything’s possible, though.

(Incidentally, do we think that EA have forgotten about Game Packs entirely?)

Fairies might be flying over Willow Creek real soon

It’s not just Anadius’ leaks giving us hints about the next Expansion Pack. Instant Gaming, a game code marketplace, was recently in the news for listing the next alleged Expansion Pack for The Sims 4. Titled Enchanted By Nature, the listing suggested that the Expansion would reintroduce fairies into The Sims for the first time since 2012’s The Sims 3: Supernatural.

A green PlantSim with short green hair glowing and leaning down to talk to plants and mushrooms in The Sims 4. He's wearing a pink floral jumpsuit. A money tree and glow plant can be seen.

Although mysterious and exciting, the listing itself looked dodgy. Fairies have been rumoured as an addition to The Sims 4 for years, and perhaps obviously, the webpage didn’t get any kind of official confirmation (yet). It’s even been taken down since. But the new Nature’s Calling event that was shared in the official dev logs looks awfully similar to what Instant Gaming claimed.

Which could mean nothing. Or, it could mean that any leaks about the supposed Enchanted By Nature Expansion could actually be about the event instead. Except for the fact that live event series in The Sims sometimes tie in very closely with the new content they’re releasing. For instance, the Reaper’s Rewards event that haunted our saves back in September led right up to the closely linked Life & Death Expansion.

Coincidence? Maybe. The Cozy Celebrations event had absolutely nothing to do with anything else released, after all. But we’ll find out either way soon enough.

The Sim Your Summer announcement itself might have hints

The Sims: Sim Your Summer EA announcement. A graphic which shows a woohoo heart, a pink social bunny, a fire-breathing cowplant, a drink with an umbrella, a gnome in swimwear, grilled cheese, water everywhere, ice cream, hifi, and music notes.

Okay, so, let’s put the hag stones down for a minute and stop looking for crumbs about fairies. The announcement itself is also ripe with hints and clues. None of which have anything to do with fairies, either.

Sim Your Summer promises garden parties, barbecues, flirtatious flings, and all kinds of other misadventures. Clearly, our Sims have some big plans for the summer that we don’t know about.

Something that caught my eye about the graphic itself was the cowplant. Besides the fact that they’re adorable, it also harks back to the calendar that sparked Simspiracy theories around the internet. The coverboys for May are a big cowplant, surrounded by four gnomes. Can you spot the swimwear-donning gnome on the graphic, too?

Underneath the cowplant and gnomes is the tagline “They say you reap what you sow”. Don’t suppose we’ll be repeating flaming hot cowplant berries anytime soon?
